Diversity

A Day in the Life Of…

Woman at computer

Turner views employee diversity as more than another “initiative.” It’s a way of life.

In an ever-changing global marketplace, diversity is good for business. It positions us well to meet the needs of our evolving customer base. And it facilitates the exchange of new perspectives and ideas. When all employees feel they can achieve their full potential, quality and productivity thrive.

Turner’s environment, culture, policies, programs, and practices reflect the high value we place on diversity.

We have an unwavering commitment to:

  • Promote an open and supportive work environment;
  • Value diversity in all its forms;
  • Encourage the candid expression of ideas;
  • Allow a free exchange of points of view; and
  • Support each other in the pursuit of common goals.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Turner has long recognized its responsibility to extend Equal Employment Opportunity to all individuals.

Our long-term commitment to provide equal opportunity to all persons is based on qualifications and merit. We do not discriminate with regard to race, sex, color, national origin, ancestry, age, creed, religion, marital status, citizenship status, disability (including veterans with disabilities and veterans of the Vietnam era), sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status. Training, recruitment, promotions, benefits, compensation, and all other factors involved in the equal treatment of employees and applicants are included in this company-wide policy.

Minority- and Woman-owned Business Enterprises

The company has a long and positive track record in the utilization of small firms and M/WBEs on its projects. Since 1980, Turner's total awards to M/WBEs and involvement with M/WBE joint venture partnerships exceeded $9.5 billion.

Turner was among the first in the industry to promote opportunities for M/WBEs. Established in 1969, Turner developed and implemented a Construction Management Training Program for M/WBEs. Due to the success rate in New York, other Turner offices have copied this program and, today, it is now offered in more than 30 cities. For additional information, refer to the Minority- and Woman-owned Business Enterprises in Community Affairs section of this Web site.
