Your education doesn’t end when you join Turner. It’s just beginning. We’re committed to an environment of life-long learning to help our associates continue to grow and discover. In fact, it’s a requirement. Every Turner employee, from new recruits to experienced managers, participates in a formal training program. The training program is designed to increase performance and maximize team success. The program blends technical, business and communications skills. Transitions Coach: Prior to your start date, a Transitions Coach contacts you to welcome you and answer any questions. Your Transitions Coach will also schedule a lunch date after you start working and assists with the on-boarding process. New Employee Orientation: Within your first month on the job, you’ll attend Turner’s dynamic New Employee Orientation. The orientation is designed to help you feel comfortable, prepared, and welcome in the Turner family.
Turner L.E.A.D.: In addition to New Employee Orientation, recent college graduates attend a four-day program called Turner L.E.A.D. (Leadership. Education. Alignment. Development.). L.E.A.D. was developed specifically to help new graduates adapt to their role at Turner and in the professional world.
T.E.C. – Turner Experienced New Hire Conference: The T.E.C. Conference is an integral part of the Turner Staff Development and Training Program. It is designed to orient and educate Experienced New Hires to Turner and outline what makes Turner unique, how we are different and the Turner approach to the business of construction. The seminars conducted during the three-day program deal with:
Career Foundations: Teaches the basics of our business. Courses continue over the first three years of employment with Turner. Corporate Instructor-led Training: While many of the Turner Training Program courses are available online, Turner also provides Corporate Instructor-led courses in the following categories:
The Corporate Instructor-led Training series cover aspects of Leadership, Management, and People Skills and are taught by experts in their area of focus. These courses range in duration from one to three day programs and are conducted year round throughout the country. In addition, there are a series of four-day programs directed at recently hired employees from the college level to the experienced hire level. These programs are taught by Turner subject matter experts and deal with Turner culture and the methodology of the way Turner conducts business. Each of these courses are offered to the various levels and families within Turner, and they are administrated by a group dedicated to instructor led training. Front-line Management: Teaches the skills and tools needed to manage the day-to-day operations of the job. Targeted for staff as they enter into the "Assistant” level of development. Team Management: Project team-focused topics for lead, on-site personnel. Targeted for staff as they enter the Engineer/Superintendent/Estimator/etc. level of development. High Performance Management: Strategies and tactics for working with internal/external customers. Targeted for new Project Manager level and new Department Head staff. Industry Management: The global overview of our industry, and high-level management strategies for our company. Targeted for new Project Executive and Multiple Department Head level staff.
