Are you ready to join Turner? It's important that our new employees feel welcome and a part of the Turner family. Before that can happen, though, you must be sure that Turner is right for you.

Considerations BEFORE You Say "Yes" to Turner

We are proud of Turner - our accomplishments, our employees and our place in the community. But is Turner right for you? Here are a few things to consider before you say "yes" to Turner:

  • What type of work will I be doing? Do you have a vague idea of the work involved, or did you ask for specific examples? It's always better to ask. You don't want to accept a position only to find out it's not what you expected.
  • Are my values and those of Turner Construction aligned? Turner’s core values are the same today as they were when the company was founded - teamwork, integrity, and commitment.
  • What is the benefits package at Turner? Benefits are an important part of your total compensation package. Know the details. For example, in addition to the tradition health care benefits, Turner also offers employees the opportuntity to continue their education throughout their career through the Tuition Reimbursement Program.
  • What type of experience will I gain at Turner? You'll make key contacts in the industry, learn to work with different types of people, gain skills that can be transferred to other positions/industries, and enjoy the opportunity to work for one of the most progressive and award winning companies in the country.

Welcome to Turner!

We’ve prepared several resources to help new employees get to know and understand the company. This page describes a four-step orientation process applicable to all new Turner employees. New employees will also receive a hard copy of this process as a Welcome Guide.

STEP ONE: We want new employees to feel a part of our team right from the start. The Welcome Guide is the first step. It’s an introduction to Turner and explains how to get ready for the first day. See the Paperwork section for a list of items new employees need to read and/or complete, sign and return to Turner in advance of their first day.

STEP TWO: Within the first few days as a Turner employee, new employees will receive a comprehensive Getting Started Manual. This manual is designed to provide valuable information to help new employees feel at home and productive on their first day at work. Also, at orientation, new employees will find out more about Turner, about people they will meet, items they will receive, things they will learn about, and resources they can take advantage of as a Turner employee. For example:

  • First-day checklists to help make the most of the resources available
  • A high level overview of Turner’s culture, philosophy, policies and procedures
  • Information about the work group
  • Places to know

STEP THREE: An important step in the orientation process is receiving a more detailed introduction to Turner by taking the following learning courses on the Turner Knowledge Network (TKN) within the first two months of employment:

  • Orientation: Getting Started at Turner
  • Understanding Turner – Orientation for Experienced Hires
  • Turner History and Culture
  • Century of Excellence
  • Career Counseling
  • Business Meeting Etiquette

STEP FOUR: While the first month at Turner is significant in any career, we think that life after orientation is even more critical. We plan to stay in touch, and show new employees ways to manage their career at Turner. Staying connected is important, so new employees need to get to know colleagues within their business unit or job site, meet with various department heads and reach out to a mentor.
